My Independent Review of the 2018 State of the Environment Report (SoER) commissioned in 2019 was released by the South Australia Environment Protection Authority in October 2020. Results from my stakeholder engagement consisting of an online survey, interviews and correspondence, as well as research on effective reporting, allowed me to consider opportunities to improve SoER in achieving environmental outcomes in South Australia and to make recommendations for improving future reports.

The Great Australian Bight Management Advisory Committee (GABMAC) is the principle forum where issues relating to the Great Australian Bight Trawl Sector of the Southern and Eastern Scalefish and Shark Fishery are discussed, problems identified and possible solutions developed.
The Great Australian Bight Resource Assessment Group is the key research and scientific committee for management of the Great Australian Bight Trawl Sector of the Southern and Eastern Scalefish and Shark Fishery.
Working with the NCAARF CoastAdapt tool and Cairns Regional Council, I examined and reported on how climate change would influence the risk of Ross River virus in the Cairns region.

The case studies make it clear that governments must reform and restructure budgets using economic incentives and instruments to ensure sustainable development and sound environmental management. At the same time, industry will benefit by addressing green budget reform from a proactive, sustainability perspective.
